Schools Wales is UNIQUE

We ae the first and the only school-led network in Wales representing 40 schools within the partnership, which has been set up by schools, to enable the drive and focus for ‘Schools to support Schools’. Our focus is to improve educational outcomes for learners and allow leaders to shape their future. We have a strong social purpose, which is the foundation of our work and is at the heart of all that we do!

The partnership is entirely self funded allowing us the independence to direct the work of the partnership how we see fit. Collaboration and school to school working is to key to our work in focusing on the challenges we face in the education sector within Wales. School input and engagement drives Schools Wales to have a voice to influence and shape education for our learners.

Where it all started….

In 2023, a group of Headteachers from the South Wales area recognised there was a need for greater school to school collaboration to enhance their work and allow school improvement in key areas. Through the power of collaboration, and word of mouth, this would create a collative voice and vision for a Wales-wide school partnership. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved to date but know that there is much more to come!

Where we are in 2025….

As a network of all of our region’s schools, our strategy is entirely driven and directed by them. Through our consultations, networking, annual calendar of events, ongoing discussions with individuals and local networks. South Wales Learning Schools has nine networks within the partnership which have scheduled network meetings a minimum of three times through the academic school year. The networks are:

Headteachers

Teaching and Learning

ALN

Curriculum

Wellbeing and Attendance

Core Heads

School Business Managers

Self Evaluation and School Improvement

Aspiring Headteachers Programme

Effective Middle Leaders

Our Future….

We envision a Schools Wales Partnership where ALL schools in Wales are involved, enabling every Leader and Learner to have a voice in the future within education in Wales! Furthermore, as a group we know the frustrations and challenges education in Wales faces at present and are keen to be at ‘the chalk face’ in finding and implementing solutions to overcome these. We also feel that schools can and should be better supported and empowered and we must work with key partners to improve the current educational climate we find ourselves.
